Meta Employee Watches 2 Years Of Their Hard Work Being Dismissed As AI Was Given Their Job Instead

After nearly two years of dedicated work, Daniel believed he had finally established himself as a valuable employee at Meta. He had contributed to multiple projects, spent countless late nights solving technical challenges, and consistently received positive feedback from teammates. Like many employees, he assumed hard work and commitment would provide long-term career stability.

Much of Daniel’s time was devoted to improving internal systems designed to make employees more productive. He collaborated with engineers, designers, and project managers to develop tools that streamlined workflows across several departments. The project demanded patience, creativity, and constant adaptation as company priorities evolved.

Despite the demanding schedule, Daniel remained motivated because he believed his efforts were making a meaningful impact. Every successful update and completed milestone reinforced his confidence that the project would become an important part of the company’s future strategy.

Everything changed during a company restructuring focused on expanding artificial intelligence initiatives. Management announced that several departments would be reorganized, with AI-powered systems taking over many tasks previously handled by human teams. Employees soon learned that numerous positions would either change dramatically or disappear altogether.

Daniel was shocked to discover that much of the work he had spent two years developing was being replaced by new AI-driven solutions. Even more difficult was learning that his own role was no longer considered essential because automation could now perform many of the same responsibilities.

The news left Daniel feeling disappointed and uncertain about the future. While he recognized the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, he couldn’t ignore the emotional impact of watching years of dedication seemingly lose value overnight. Many coworkers expressed similar concerns, questioning how technology would continue reshaping careers across the industry.

After sharing his experience online, Daniel’s story sparked widespread discussion about the growing influence of AI in the workplace. Some readers argued that technological progress is inevitable and creates new opportunities, while others believed companies should do more to support employees whose jobs are transformed by automation. The situation became another example of the challenges businesses and workers face as artificial intelligence continues to evolve.

I watched Meta replace my entire team with an ai agent before they told us that we are gone too.I dont care about NDA anymore

Idk why I am posting this but i have been carrying it around for weeks and I need to get this out.I dont even care about the nda anymore too

I gave meta two years and i was on the internal procurement side handling supplier contracts, invoice processing and the unglamorous plumbing that keeps a company running and there were three teams doing this, one negotiating supplier rates and converting everything into oracle compatible formats, one entering contract data into the ERP and another approving exceptions flagged by ctsi plus an external bpo checking invoices before anything got paid (hundreds of people on that side alone).

And the work was not simple, data center buildout was scaling unpredictably bcoz of how much money was being thrown at ai and reality labs was a hardware naive software company trying to stand up factories, logistics and supplier relationships completely from scratch. We were renegotiating supply contracts every 15 to 30 days to keep pace with how fast things were moving.

And in the middle of all that while the business itself was growing 2 to 3x year over year ,leadership’s decision was to shrink the team to a fifth of its size because it didnt matter anymore whether it did.

And for context its same company that stopped giving people permanent desks so nobody could look around and guess who was next ( where morale has been in the floor for months). Even people internally dont think llama 4 lives up to what leadership says about it publicly, ik more than one manager that have said out loud that they dont recognize this company anymore lol.

Theres also a leaked clip from an april 30 still going around where zuckerberg allegedly talks about employee activity being used to train the ai ahead of the cuts. Two years I gave this place and I watched all of it happen from the inside before it happened to me.

By the time the layoffs actually hit in may, the whole pipeline was already running without us, one agent runs procurement and contract negotiation end to end, another set of agents took over what CTSI used to do entirely (checking, approving, paying invoices) with a small human team left just to handle whatever the agents flag as an exception and only thing that was in good faith was that people who were layed off were being helped by freehand to find new roles, the company whose agents replaced what we used to do, tho.

But theres a guilt of having watched it coming for months because I didnt want to believe it was coming for me too.

Most people i knew treated it as a signal to move and I think thats the healthier response.

Ik what you guys will say that i should have seen it coming but ya I just needed to say all of it somewhere.

The Engineer Behind the Projects

For nearly two years, Daniel believed he was building a meaningful career at Meta. As a software engineer, he spent countless hours contributing to projects that were designed to improve internal operations. Long workdays, demanding deadlines, and constant collaboration became part of his daily routine, but he remained committed because he believed his work would have a lasting impact.

Daniel’s team was responsible for developing tools that helped employees work more efficiently. Every new feature required months of planning, testing, and refinement before it could be rolled out across the company. Although the work was challenging, Daniel enjoyed solving complex problems alongside talented coworkers.

The company regularly emphasized innovation and encouraged employees to think creatively. Daniel embraced that culture, volunteering for difficult assignments and spending extra hours ensuring projects met high standards. Positive performance reviews reinforced his belief that his career was moving in the right direction.

As artificial intelligence became a greater priority throughout the technology industry, Meta began investing heavily in AI-powered products and internal systems. Leadership spoke enthusiastically about automation, efficiency, and the company’s vision for integrating AI into nearly every aspect of its operations.

At first, Daniel viewed these developments positively. He believed AI would become another tool that employees could use to improve productivity rather than something that would replace their jobs. Like many colleagues, he assumed human expertise would always remain essential.

Months later, management announced a major restructuring. Several departments would be reorganized as AI systems took over many responsibilities previously handled by employees. The announcement immediately created uncertainty across multiple teams.

Daniel soon learned that the projects he had spent nearly two years developing would either be significantly reduced or completely replaced by newly introduced AI-driven solutions. Even more surprising was learning that his own position was being eliminated as part of the restructuring.

The news was difficult to process. Daniel couldn’t help thinking about the late nights, missed weekends, and countless meetings that had gone into building systems the company had once praised. Watching those efforts become obsolete almost overnight felt deeply discouraging.

Many coworkers experienced similar emotions. Some worried about finding new positions within the company, while others questioned whether their own roles might eventually disappear as artificial intelligence continued advancing.

Although management explained that AI would allow the company to move faster and remain competitive, many employees felt the transition lacked sufficient transparency. They believed greater communication and support could have eased the uncertainty surrounding the changes.

Daniel understood that technology constantly evolves and that businesses must adapt to remain successful. Even so, he struggled with the realization that years of dedication could be replaced so quickly by automated systems capable of performing similar tasks.

After leaving the company, Daniel reflected on how rapidly the workplace was changing. He recognized that future careers in technology would likely require continuous learning and the ability to work alongside artificial intelligence rather than compete against it.

When Daniel shared his experience online, thousands of readers joined the discussion. Some argued that AI creates new opportunities despite eliminating certain jobs, while others worried that companies were moving too quickly without considering the human impact.

Industry professionals pointed out that technological revolutions have always transformed employment, creating new roles while making others less necessary. However, many agreed companies should invest more in retraining employees instead of simply replacing them whenever new technology becomes available.

Daniel’s story ultimately became more than a personal experience—it reflected a broader conversation about the future of work in the age of artificial intelligence. While innovation continues to reshape industries, his experience reminded many readers that behind every technological advancement are people whose careers, efforts, and livelihoods deserve thoughtful consideration.
